This year, our Useful + Beautiful Craft Marquee was transformed into HAUS PARTY, a large-scale, family friendly, participatory making activity by artist Joceline Howe in partnership with Create Jobs. Inspired by the Bauhaus which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary, children designed costumes and invitations, interacted with props and stepped onto the catwalk to show their creations. HAUS PARTY was co-produced by four paid Artist Assistants who have all completed Create Jobs’ Creativity Works programme, which supports young Londoners into jobs in the creative industry. We are grateful to Stow Brothers, our local partners, who this year marked their fifth year of support for Walthamstow Garden Party.
Celebrating Waltham Forest’s creative and cultural communities, this free annual event sees two days of music, crafts, food and family activity delivered in partnership with local organisations.
The first five years of the festival (2014-2018) each saw over 30,000 people attending and its now a staple weekend in Londoner’s diaries as the largest free festival in East London.
Delivered by the Barbican in partnership with Create London and Waltham Forest Council.
The Useful and Beautiful Craft Marquee is sponsored by The Stow Brothers.
