CREATE Art Award
– Call for submissions

The Bank of America Merrill Lynch CREATE Art Award is the largest participatory art award in the UK. This annual award helps artists living or working within the London 2012 host boroughs to deliver brand new public art commissions as part of the CREATE Festival. The award aims to open up exciting opportunities for artists to work with their neighbours: the residents of the London 2012 host boroughs. In turn, it gives local people a chance to engage with major art projects happening in their neighbourhoods.

We are now inviting submissions for a participatory art project from artists who live or work in one of the host boroughs. Integral to the award is the active participation of people who live locally. We welcome proposals from artists working in all media.

Deadline for submissions: 5pm, 28 October 2011

  • The total value of the commission is £50,000
  • The commission will be awarded in December 2011.
  • The work must be realised in June/July 2012 as part of CREATE.

CREATE is the cultural partnership of the host boroughs for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games who are working together with leading arts organisations, venues and practitioners from across the region to develop CREATE into an internationally significant annual arts festival in the lead up to, and beyond, 2012.
